Blog post #3: Shape, Color, Scale

Shape, Color, Scale

30 Minutes of sketching:

Part one:

For my Character I wanted to have the shape of a tall oval and a long rectangle. My character is now a post apocalyptic young adult who has adopted powers from the changes of the world. My character is based is a 2d story game where you go through the past and future to figure out more about the character and his background. I wanted my character to be simple and complex at the same time in his personality. The simple shapes relate to the character because on the outside he looks like a simple character but the more you play the game the more you will see how advanced and complex he really is.

Part two:

For the scale of my character I used three circles to explain the height and width of my character for my 2d game. I used the circles as height references just like in the article. I did this because I wanted to be able to show the size of the character based on what the screen of the game would look like. I still would like to do more scale research to really help my character form in size and shape.

Part Three

For my character I wanted to follow the same values as the shape to the color so simple. I wanted the player to see the evolution of the character as you play the game and discover more. I went with three simple colors but will add more when I develop the character for my character sheet. I used the colors of blue, a nude, and grey to really emphasize the simplicity of the characters beginning.  The color scheme can be switched but I really liked how the original scheme turned out for the character. The game is cartoon style and I want the world to be more vibrant than the character because he will be more vibrant at the end of the game.
