Blog #4: Tropes

Image
Adornetto Game character: - the game character I would like to work with and reconstruct would be Master chief from the Halo series. I think it would be really cool to have this character in a different light. What I would want to do would be to have master chief as a female in the game. Many male oriented fps or shooter games have a male "Badass" looking character. I think it would be really cool to imagine master chief as a women and have the male be Cortana in the series. I think this change would bring way more players to the game from all demographics. the game is still massive itself and could be even bigger if the role was flipped.  Inverted trope: - This concept would be playing with the inverted way to change a trope. The way this would happen would be as I stated before having master chief be a female, and have Cortana be the male. This play on the trope would shock the world and would have people in shock. It would be cool to see if they would ever add a setting t...

Blog post #3: Shape, Color, Scale

Image
Adornetto Shape, Color, Scale 30 Minutes of sketching: Part one:     For my Character I wanted to have the shape of a tall oval and a long rectangle. My character is now a post apocalyptic young adult who has adopted powers from the changes of the world. My character is based is a 2d story game where you go through the past and future to figure out more about the character and his background. I wanted my character to be simple and complex at the same time in his personality. The simple shapes relate to the character because on the outside he looks like a simple character but the more you play the game the more you will see how advanced and complex he really is.  Part two:          For the scale of my character I used three circles to explain the height and width of my character for my 2d game. I used the circles as height references just like in the article. I did this because I wanted to be able to show the size of the character based on wha...

Blog #2: first pass + Critique

Adornetto CoD Map prototype Map description: My map is a small quarter map that is symmetrical, this gives each player on either side the same advantage points. This focuses the gameplay on good mechanics and gun skill since the map is the same on either side. Only few maps have been like this so I wanted to see if I could perfect it.   Sight and composition angles : How can you improve the experience of your level by altering those angles?  The angles of my map are the same on either side. But what I believe I need to do to make it more smooth  on either side is to make sure the map  has smooth angles and clear paths of sight  Observation Spots : How does your level us observation spots, and how can you make them better? my level has many observation  spots through out the map. On either side their are lines of sights to certain spots on the map. I can make these spots better by making sure the sight is completely clear. all the spots are level but I...

Blog #2: character sketches.

Character basics: My character is a young adult male who has survived the start of the apocalypse. The character survives through the world with his sword to protect himself from the dangers around the broken world. The character looks like a typical college kid but has gathered things to help protect himself and fend off the aftermath.  Mind Map: For my mind map I choose the four best topics that help design and exemplify my character the most. I choose fauna, clothing, historical references and cultures. I picked these because they help demonstrate how my character would look and where he would be from and his interests to gain a sense of his personality.  https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1dUn4M9MZ2d5gcqsswuFoxPx_1gKE0Sd41fWR1gT2NYg/edit?usp=sharing Description of character: My character looks like a young adult wearing beat up old clothes. The clothes are a sweatshirt, jeans, sneakers, a beanie hat and a backpack. Throughout the game my character will change hi...

Button/Door level

Adornetto: button level What went faster than expected? - what went faster than expected was following the video, and learning the steps. the program is pretty straight forward so it wasn't hard to follow along What went slower than expected? - What went slower was actually getting the door to work. I still haven't been able to get the door to work properly. but the fun is ;earning the program and finally achieving the goal. What seemed confusing? - what still seems confusing is the texturing and the coding aspects with the script. I'm learning the program quicks but not the scripts. with time I will get  better What do you feel you understand a LOT? - I understand the scale of objects. its easy for me to put things in the right position and have the right scaling for the project.

Blog #1: Sketches

Adornetto Sketches/Photo:  Description:     - my object avoids the uncanny valley because it isn't a show character, I envisioned the shoe as a dragon. the two flaps at the top of the laces are the eyes that create the image of the face. The laces exemplify the scales of the dragon and so does the mesh pattern. The bottle of the toes of the shoe shows the lining of the mouth of the dragon silhouette.   The Dragon would be an intimidating and scary figure with many shapes and colors to create almost an illusion. the dragon would be a loss of some sort in the game. The dragon would be part of the side of the game that is evil. The shoe is just an inspiration for the aesthetic of the character. Overall I believe I avoided the uncanny valley because the object has nothing to do with

Blog #1: Button/Door Assignment

Image
Adornetto     For my button and door assignment, I will have a button in one room to open the door that is hidden like a puzzle. And I will have another door don't the another end of the wall to close the door.  The premise of the level will be to get through the door and close it on the other side. It will be a simple level but interesting in the aspect of if you can find the button and how to find it. then to finish the level all you have to do is close the door. The level is quick and easy and will be a fun little mini game.
